Ms. Mayra Carlos Lazo

Ms. Mayra Carlos Lazo completed a Medical Degree in 2006 at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and a Psychiatric Residency at the National Institute of Psychiatry in 2011. Then she completed a fellowship in Sleep Medicine in 2012. Mayra is double board-certified in Psychiatry and Sleep Medicine through the Mexican Board of Psychiatry.

 

In 2017 she got a Diploma in Couples Therapy from the Mexican Psychoanalytical Association. In addition, she has trained in well-known psychiatric training facilities worldwide, such as in The Brain and Mind Research Centre at the University of Sydney.

 

Mayra has over ten years of clinical experience in her private practice.

 

In 2019 she got a certification in Applied Clinical Research and the Science of Cannabis 2020 at McMasters University. She also obtained an Addiction Counselling Certificate from Laurier University in 2021.

 

She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Developmental Psychology and Education at the University of Toronto, where she is presently doing a research practicum at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education Sleep Physiology Lab.

 

She has been a professor for Continuing Education at the National Institute of Psychiatry. Currently, She is a professor for the Emergency Psychiatry Training SC and the Ibero-Latin American Association of Neurosciences and Psychiatry (AILANCYP).

 

She is the past Secretary of the Mexican Academy of Sleep Medicine. Additionally, she is an active member of the Mexican Psychiatric Association, the Mexican Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the Canadian Sleep Society.

 

Mayra loves to hike, ski, cycle, dine out, do yoga, travel, scuba dive, and explore new places in her spare time.
