Dr. Sujay Patel – Founder and Advisor
Dr. Sujay Patel, MD, FRCP(C), ABIME, CMLE, C-CAT(MB), is a psychiatrist with extensive experience in clinical care, medical education, and medicolegal assessment. He completed his medical training at University College Dublin and residency at Memorial University, followed by advanced training at institutions such as the Maudsley Hospital, Mayo Clinic, and Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Patel has treated a wide range of psychiatric conditions and holds expertise in brain injury, pain medicine, rehabilitation, and legal medicine. He currently serves as a psychiatric consultant with Traverse Independence Brain Injury Program and Head Injury Rehabilitation Ontario.
Dr. Patel is recognized for his leadership in medicolegal psychiatry, having conducted thousands of independent evaluations across Canada and founded PsycIME, one of North America’s largest psychiatric IME clinics. He has held key advisory roles, including Investigating Medical Coroner, College assessor, and adjudicator. A committed educator and researcher, he holds academic appointments at McMaster University and the University of Ottawa, and has received multiple awards for teaching. Internationally, he co-founded Mental Health Without Borders and has led humanitarian mental health missions to Guyana. His current interests include integrating AI and medical technologies into mental health care.

Dr. Shazhzad Shahmalak - Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Shahmalak is a board-certified general adult psychiatrist with broad experience treating psychiatric disorders across all age groups. Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, he has practiced in both the U.S. and Canada. After completing his psychiatry residency at New York Medical College and St. Vincent Hospital in Manhattan, he returned to Canada for a two-year Forensic Psychiatry fellowship at McMaster University and Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital. He has held medical licenses in Kentucky, New York, and currently Ontario, where he now works in private practice.
With over 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Shahmalak began his career treating severely mentally ill patients at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Kentucky. He has managed a range of conditions including depression, anxiety, psychosis, dementia, and substance use disorders. He has held academic roles as Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky, Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine, and currently teaches at McMaster University. His leadership roles include Chief of Psychiatry at Cambridge Memorial Hospital and Director of Psychiatry in Kentucky. He also consults for various pharmaceutical companies.
